@ProfNoctis Making Cloud and Aerith romantic destroys all characters including Cloud and Aerith. If you want to have a western style romance story that is selfish and made up of people who hate their friends , sure. But this is a found family story first, with romance elements

The issue for me isn’t that anyone thinks Tifa is an animal abuser. That is quite obviously not the case.

The issue is the need to flatten Tifa’s character and pass some of the nuance of her traits off to and compare her to another. Meanwhile the primary apparatus of your marketing is pitting these two heroines against each other.

The whole thing is just weird and the clarification to the most extreme interpretation of the original quote is nice, but this marketing cycle in general is a mess and really unfortunate.
