Happy first day of spring! 🌱🎉 I celebrated by planting a flat of basil seeds. 😊 I picked a mix of Genovese and Greek types, my faves. How did you mark the arrival of spring?

Rain is coming 🎉 and this is your friendly reminder to go harvest all ripe or almost ripe tomatoes from your garden. Why? A sudden influx of water can cause fruits to split or crack. Best to harvest them now.
There must be about 2,000 monarchs at the farm nectaring on Meadow Blazing Star flowers before migrating south. Really incredible to see. The bees and beetles are working too—which hopefully means a solid seed harvest this year.
First day of summer: 🔥 Hotter than heck out there. Remember to water your pots and seedlings, compost, and stay hydrated! 💦
(Time to start thinking about seed-starting fall crops indoors, to put them out late July).
Happy Gardening! 🪴
