@englandcricket@windiescricket By this, I take it we expect a batting collapse? Overton’s 3 ball slogfest before being caught on the boundary for 5 is the only reason to choose him
@cric_blog I’m not sure it’s a BazBall issue. Stokes wouldn’t have played most of these shots. Starc’s been good but not great. It’s not as if the ball’s been hooping. Just stupidity in the final 4 wickets
@Vitu_E It’s a tragedy that Sky aren’t the broadcasters. They offer such a good product with Nas and Atherton at the helm. The step down is so disappointing
@bbctms I think they might have cost us the match. Not to be too dramatic but I can’t see Jaiswal not getting a century now and India bat deep. Conditions will also favour the batter tomorrow.
@englandcricket Atkinson aside, poor bowling really. In don’t mind Tongue doing what he does as that’s part of what he offers and he is improving. But Woakes isn’t good enough anymore and Overton never will be good enough.
@englandcricket Not ideal, but good that Bethell is finally getting a game. He needs time in the middle. I wonder if a lack of genuine spin will be a problem. Could be lots of work for Root and Bethell to share both of whom lack the control of Dawson
@EdEmond18@willis_macp He just isn’t fast enough for Test cricket on pitches like these. Woakes isn’t good enough any more largely because he consistently bowls under 80mph which Cook also does. As does Kamboj who’ll be dropped for the Oval
@FootballCliches what do you think of this ‘footy’ chat at the start of this weeks Overlap cricket podcast? Fitting the India team into a classic 442. https://t.co/hjuijOYjqb
@jitc123@KP07_ @ESPNcricinfo He didn’t sound over it. Just say ‘this is high level sport with very fine margins and both teams are pushing to the limits everything at their disposal. If there’s a problem the umpires need to step in’
@KP07_ @ESPNcricinfo Importantly England aren’t coming to a press conference a week later having counted how long a cherry picked example of time wasting was. It’s petty. In this case England aren’t employing ‘spirit of the game’ nonsense it’s literally the Indian captain
@KP07_ @ESPNcricinfo If England did it I would also say it’s pathetic. Picking up on something so trivial when players were having full body massages on the pitch is I’m afraid to say pathetic. They lost to the better team, just an England did in the second Test. Get over it.
@cric_blog Is he weirdly overlooked? How much does longevity play in legacy? One of the strongest arguments I use for Jimmy’s place in the pantheon of greats is that he played 188 Tests. Will Bumrah be the same? They are clearly generational talents but play all too fleetingly
@cric_blog In reality the issues are Crawley and Pope as everyone knows. One of them will be replaced for the issues. I think Australia do currently have slightly more issues but this can all change over the next 6 months. Either way Aus bowling is vastly better so they are clear favourites
