@OneHeadington@ReconnectingOx@MarkLygo@maryoxford@LabLinda75 It is your view that is simplistic. To believe that the city can cope with increasing car numbers without consequences is just dumb. Hence rebalancing the ways we move towards more sustainable options such as public transport, walking and cycling is the only way forward.
144% increase in serious cycling injuries in Bromley in just one year.
No 20mph, no LTNs, no cycle lanes, no school streets in Bromley. Just daily worship at the altar of the private car.
So how is it possible that injuries to people riding bikes soar? https://t.co/QfIgL2B2Yy
Not sure it's relevant when streets are clogged up with personal vehicles requiring half a bus length of road space to move as few as one person.
See the image. What difference would a higher speed limit make?
A great e.g. of “you get what you invite.” Invite cars, you get cars.
The part-time cycle lane is full of parked cars, while private cars take up most of the space.
Most households here don’t have a car, yet look at how much public space is given over to storing & moving them.
@MattSimpson__@_LiamWalker_ The key word is “people’. It does not mean that every road should be a rat run for motorists. Safer lanes for people walking or wheeling is fair.
@_LiamWalker_ The problem is clearly cars. Just a handful of them cause a gridlock in a medieval city. So it’s absolutely right that more efficient modes of transport are prioritised. Is it really that difficult for a conservative mind to understand?
Ireland is now being threatened by a Russian oligarch owned company which is exporting huge amounts of alumina to Russia, used to kill Ukrainian civilians.
We need Alumina sanctions immediately and we need to kick this company out of Europe entirely.

Ireland has been welcoming the Russians en masse and allowing them to own and export massive industries on their soil. An extremely embarrassing and pathetic situation in 2026.

@eastoxbusiness Kids do matter. Kids of all skins colours btw bacaise they all go to school and they all deserve safety and well-being for they are the future. In any case, pedestrian friendly neighbourhoods attract more custom.
@eastoxbusiness You had nought else to say anyhow. Do not mind being called. A weirdo who stands up for kids well-being. Better than being an eejit whose brain is inextricably connected to a car.
@eastoxbusiness Then go and see how you get on with a legal challenge for Oxford´s LTNs (spoiler, you won’t even try). In fact, there should and there will be more LTNs because people who go about without a cars should have priority.
@eastoxbusiness You literally just have to read the campaign page where the statement is clear: A KC deemed the case meritless. There was less money raised for the congestion charge challenge, it got taken to the High Court where it failed miserably.
@eastoxbusiness The Oxford LTN challenge was withdrawn because it would fail miserably, as did the one for the Congestion charge. https://t.co/GZnVpP9EAx
