Commenting on the abduction of former Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago, carried out on the orders of CDF Muhoozi Kainerugaba, retired Major General Gregory Mugisha Muntu issued a stark warning about the direction Uganda is taking.
Speaking at a public event in Kampala attended by government officials and political leaders, Muntu argued that the country's growing disregard for the rule of law has reached dangerous levels. In one of his strongest remarks yet, he suggested that the prevailing lawlessness is beginning to resemble political insanity.
Muntu reminded those currently wielding state power that political fortunes are never permanent. While some may feel protected by the authority they enjoy today, he warned that a time will come when they are no longer in office and must live under the same system they helped create.
His message was simple but powerful: what happens when those who ignore the law today find themselves out of power tomorrow?
The former army commander cautioned that institutions weakened for political convenience eventually become a threat to everyone, including those who once benefited from them. A nation cannot selectively apply justice, undermine legal safeguards, and expect stability to endure forever.
In this commentary, we examine Muntu's warning, why he believes Uganda is entering dangerous territory, and what his remarks reveal about growing concerns over impunity, accountability, and the future of the rule of law.

As Catholics in this Lenten season, let's remember to emulate Mother Mary, who is presented as a model of faith, humility, and patience, inspiring us Catholics and all believers to unite our own sufferings with Christ's passion. Let her, as our spiritual mother, guide us through the 40 days of Lent, encouraging us to deepen our prayer life, often through the Rosary.🙏

If there's something to ask from God is to have that partner we can hold each other through ups and down
The one we can fight and report it together to the Lord
The one who won't judge but listen and understand
The one who shares his problems to me without being silent
Another Valentine’s Day for entitled and ungrateful women to think it’s only them who deserve to be gifted and spoilt!! Love is a two way street not a one way street 💕 Be thoughtful to your caring, kind and respectful partners too . They need to feel the love too!
From my lonely hideout, I've spent the day reading the many beautiful birthday messages. Thank you, friends, for the outpouring of love and encouragement. I’m really humbled🙏🏾❤️
I’m grateful to God for the gift of life, for the friends and family that He has surrounded me with, and for the many second chances I have had in life.
For whatever we have accomplished, that was the almighty God working through us. The glory goes to Him. For the mistakes and missteps along the way, that's mine. I take responsibility while struggling to improve.
Cheers to a new age and a new page.
May the rest of our days be the best of our days.
