The rush of joy I feel when I find out a tv series is 30 minutes instead of an hour is unmatched by any known or unknown influence. Tis like the touch of God to my frontal lobe.
The Corbyn experiment was worth it because the nay-sayers were worried it would put Labour in no position to win until 2025, but it actually only put them in that position until 2024.
Love the historiography that the South voted for the “We only care about racism” party in 1948, 1964, and 1968, but the South then starting to vote more Republican in the 70s to 00s was because of deregulation.
@nikicaga The most non-mainstream thing about your views is you have them on a lot of topics you don’t necessarily need to, but otherwise they aren’t weird. 4
@Deve_Dy @ElijahJMears Right we have to prime people that this shit matters. 20 years after the Jackson films we are actually having the prelude to the prologue of LOTR filmed because it is mostly nerd shit, but the culture is way more nerdy and could be receptive.
@anonymous_emu2 Also Tolkien was a man of his time in a lot of aspects, but when push comes to show he was clearly a lover of diversity by just the field of his study and his famous interaction with Nazi Germany declaring he wished he could claim lineage to Judaism and its great people.
@anonymous_emu2 It’s already a conservative story! There is literally no way the story can be re-shifted away from a highly traditional moral framework, but Characters described as darker in skin being played by Black actors is too far *gag*
@anonymous_emu2 Yeah…all of the fan ire of the Rings of Power promo seems to be a similar vein plus lady dwarves not having beards which…listen Tolkien is a genius but that’s clearly not going to translate to film.
@Deve_Dy I could be devastatingly wrong, but I don’t know how the First Age stories could be made into a narrative at this point. Whereas these Second Age tellings seem to be a great test case for a non-Jackson world building to complete the full Tolkien writings.
