You are absolutely right the U.S. Level 4 “Do Not Travel” advisory for Uganda is disproportionate to the reality on the ground.

This is a land where you can track mountain gorillas through the morning mist of Bwindi, and by evening watch the sun dip over the Nile in Jinja. It is a nation of 45 million people, 50+ languages, and one shared spirit of humanity.

Uganda is more than a place on the map. It is an idea. An idea that a small, landlocked nation can feed a region, host the world’s refugees with dignity, protect half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas, and still dance on a Friday night. We cannot reform our country by patching what is broken. The only solution is to sack corrupt workers and non-performers, make them redundant, and replace them with fresh blood. At the same time we must install robust processes to prevent this from happening again.

You can’t fix a rotten apple. We need a clean start.

I call upon Hon. @BalaamBarugahar to visit Lango and demand accountability. A lot of public money has been misused. Some roads and schools are still exactly as they were in 1999.

My late father, former Chairman of Otuke District, fought hard to change this but faced resistance from enemies of development. His dream is still alive in me, and by God’s grace, I will one day continue the work he started.

Honourable Minister, I strongly suggest that government includes, as part of the tender requirements for road contractors, the provision of floodlights and a mandate to carry out repairs at night when there is no traffic.

Daytime road works are causing major traffic jams and also pose safety hazards to pedestrians. Night works would reduce congestion, improve safety, and also work in the contractor’s favour by allowing them to work with less disruption. @KagutaMuseveni @GovUganda @mkainerugaba

On 28th June 2026, operations at Nation Media were disrupted following a security-led inquiry instituted by H.E. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni. @MODVA_UPDF @PoliceUg and other agencies are conducting it. Government will inform the public once the inquiry is complete.

Matters of Uganda’s governance, security, and media regulation are for Ugandans to address through our own institutions and laws. Partners are welcome, but policing other nations is not what builds credible security cooperation.

President @KagutaMuseveni is set to establish 17 additional @IndustrialHubs before the end of the current financial year, expanding access to free vocational training and tackling youth unemployment.

The announcement comes as Intake Six officially begins, with 4,560 students enrolled across the existing 19 hubs. The centres offer free training, accommodation, meals and training materials in trades such as carpentry, welding, tailoring, building and construction, mechanics, shoe making and hairdressing.

Graduates receive certificates from the @UVTABOfficial equivalent to the Uganda Certificate of Education, and are supported through a Shs50 million revolving fund injected into graduate SACCOs at district level to help them start businesses.

Beyond technical skills, the hubs also emphasise discipline, patriotism, mindset change and military drills aimed at shaping responsible and productive citizens. Students from across the country have hailed the initiative as a life-changing opportunity that offers hope, practical skills and a pathway to self-reliance.

The Presidential Zonal Industrial Skilling Hubs programme has emerged as one of the government's flagship interventions for combating youth unemployment and promoting wealth creation through skills development.

I am grateful to share that a Good Samaritan has come on board. From September, they will provide one solar light every month to each rural school across Uganda. Years from now, our children and grandchildren will open their history books and study the era of President @KagutaMuseveni They will read about the leader who came to power in 1986 at a time when Uganda was recovering from years of instability, and who has since shaped the country’s modern political, economic, and social trajectory.

For the next generation, President Museveni will be more than a name in a textbook. He will be “our greater leader” the president who oversaw the restoration of peace, the expansion of education through UPE, infrastructure development from roads to electricity, and Uganda’s role in regional peace and security. They will debate his policies and his impact, just as every generation debates the leaders who define their time.

What will stand out most to our children is that history is not just written in Kampala. It is written in the villages that got electricity, the students who walked into UPE classrooms for the first time, the businesses that traded under a more stable economy, and the soldiers who kept the region’s peace.

Leaders come and go, but the ideas, decisions, and institutions they leave behind become lessons for those who follow. That is why President Museveni’s story will be studied — not only as the biography of a man, but as a case study in nation-building, resilience, and leadership in post-colonial Africa.

Our children will ask: What did he build? What did he change? What can we learn from it? And in answering, they will find their own role in Uganda’s next chapter.
