Social attention during shared book reading in autsitic children & as a marker for social development
@TheJCPP
https://t.co/xqEqvhdb7P
We assessed eye-gaze patterns of autistic children during shared book reading (inc joint attention sequences)
Autistic children showed reduced social attention, including during joint-attention, and more attention to background images.
Patterns were associated with autism features, cognitive development and eye-gaze in free-play.
The task may be useful for understanding & detecting social delay.
How children attend in shared reading has implications for learning, education & social development.

@SciSemple All the best for this exciting new adventure @SciSemple - very cool (and I must say, appealing!!!!).
You’ve made such a mammoth contribution to neurotrauma research over the years, so I’m very sad to see you leaving the field in this capacity.
Yes, your anxiety may be linked to genetics, childhood trauma, or brain chemistry. But there may be lifestyle choices you're making today that are adding fuel to the fire. Here's how to stop. https://t.co/rQlZovribG

This particular study highlights the need for transdiagnostic supports for families affected by chronic health conditions, regardless of specific condition.
Congrats @sangs_sangeetha!
Why do people stop antidepressants? Not often for the reasons most people think (ie. weight gain or sexual side-effects) from SSRIs. Acute (gut, anxiety, agitation) difficulties lead to early cessation. https://t.co/rxdNLr0n0L @niallpboyce @Mental_Elf@WrayNaomi@beyondblue
