We know Gilead isn’t race blind because there is a scene in THT where the aunts are trying to assign handmaids to some commanders and aunt Lydia makes a comment about one commander not wanting a handmaid of colour
i know it would be tough to watch, but it’s getting kinda ridiculous that they expect us to believe a place like gilead is race blind, except for that one random commander who didn’t want a black handmaid and paula’s microaggressions that most of the audience doesn’t even notice
ariana is still wrong for getting with that man from the start but damn he threw away his highschool sweetheart wife and newborn kid for no reason at all. good luck being divorced and also spongebob
I haven’t seen the testaments yet but Natalie (Ofmatthew ) was definitely unfairly villainized. She was just doing what she could to survive and she genuinely felt like she was protecting June in the best way she can by snitching to Aunt Lydia
I could write an essay on how they're both designed to be "hated," but only because Gilead is harder for them in ways the audience (and often even the writers) fail to recognize
Both of them will get called white in mere seconds if they visited any black African country. America is the only country on earth where someone who looks like these two women can tell a continental African to their face that "you're not black, you're African."

It always feels like the 2 types of reactions foreigners have to America is that everything is terrible or they start cursing God they weren't born in Naperville Illinois.
TELEVISION DOESNT LIVE IN THE BOX!! SHE JUST SLEEPS IN THERE CAUSE SHE LIKES TO CRAWL INSIDE THE FURNITURE WHILE IM ASLEEP!! I DONT WANT HER TO GET STUCK OR HURT WHILE IM UNCONSCIOUS
the woman on the left is biracial, yet her skin color is closer to that of a white women’s yet you still call her black? this is literally what we mean by black erasure, you ppl are keeping the “one drop rule” alive and ongoing.
