Am I being debanked? I opened a business account three weeks ago with @Citibank. It has money in it. The bank has informed me via four calls over 13 days that I can’t use it to send money, and now, that I can’t access it or even close it. They say they can’t use my cellphone number or email to verify me — ‘Do I have a landline?’ - and I must wait for a letter in the mail to learn why. This is illegal in NYS unless there is a court order, which there is not to my knowledge. Banks cannot keep you from closing your own account or accessing your own money in NYS. What’s up @Citibank ?
