Nine years ago I covered the Sandy Hook school shooting in Newtown Connecticut. Tonight, my niece, a first grader in Newtown, told me about the drill they had at school today. They practiced what to do to keep a bad guy out of the classroom. It made me sick.

In Lafayette, Louisiana right now:

There are 10 NON COVID patients who have been waiting in the emergency room at Lafayette General Medical Center for 34 hours.

Just to get a bed in the hospital.

That health system had 35 Covid patients 30 days ago.
They have 154 tonight.
