WEEKEND READ// A wandering light: Cape Bowling Green lighthouse

Just two weeks is all it took and the conservation of the exterior of the Cape Bowling Green Lighthouse is complete. Its outer surface received some TLC, corrosion treatment and a lick of paint in white and signal red. Come and check it out -https://t.co/LO4xcIrLtJ.
We’re proud to display MV Krait on the water and in miniature. Our two detailed dioramas show how this fishing boat pulled off an audacious raid on Japanese-occupied Singapore in 1943. For more mini creations, check out Tiny Oz on @ABCTV https://t.co/CRAGZSL3bo
The Sanyo Maru sank in 1937, but in 2022 it’s sailing around Australia … in miniature. Our travelling exhibition includes this diorama of Japanese pearl-shell divers in Australian waters. For more mini creations, check out Tiny Oz on @ABCTV https://t.co/CRAGZSL3bo
Congratulations @LucillaRonai who was named the @AICCM_OZ Conservator of the Year 2021 in recognition of her extraordinary efforts in conservation, academic publication and public outreach. Luci has a gift for engaging new audiences & publicising the work of museum conservators.
Standing at the centre of our museum is the imposing lens & pedestal from the Tasman Island lighthouse. Once a year our team of conservators check its condition & carefully clean its lenses & structure. At 6 meters tall it's quite a task. #AskaConservator
This whalebone swift used by crocheters and knitters supports a skein of yarn while being wound into a ball. The complex construction of flat and turned parts made with fine tolerances, so it turns smoothly, fascinates our Conservator Alayne. #AskAConservator
