The format is among the most forgiving in college sports.
You can have four losses and still win a national championship.
- 1 loss in regionals
- 1 loss in supers
- 2 in the CWS (depending on when those losses occur)
*I believe Fresno State did this in 2008 and won the CWS.
Out of all the bad takes on this app, this is one of the top ones.
Of note, they needed walk offs to collect their last 5 wins. The squad was not playing their best ball when it mattered most and that’s the point of the post season. Give em a regular season trophy if you want goofball.
@BrandynJasa I’m fine with this as it is incidental as a result of going for the catch. Similar thing just happened when Ok St runner tried to steal second - SS or 2B (don’t remember which) ended up blocking the hand with foot while going for the ball.
@KCSpiron@KendallRogers But if that’s the case, lobby for rule change. Umps are just officiating within the rulebook. Every ejection I’ve seen I’ve been like “Are you serious?” And not bc the ump tossed the kid, but bc the kid did something so obviously electable.
@KCSpiron@KendallRogers Dude same I figured I forgot to take my crazy pills today. Like every writer!!
My best guess is they’re incentivized to want the high energy celebrations because I guess that helps grow the game bc it’s clipable content that younger gen would engage with?
@bigdonkey47@FrogPreacher Hey fam - you can advocate for rule change but advocating for these players to not be held accountable is wrong. They aren’t the victims, they’re the violators. I’m not happy they got ejected, but I’m mad at them for ignoring the guardrails not the umps for holding them.
Having seen entire home run trot on replay—it was a lot. I still don't know that he was taunting the dugout, given his parents sitting right behind it. But players do need to do a better job making sure they don't put themselves in position to get ejected, hurts their teams too.
@therealmudddawg@FrogPreacher Hey - you can disagree with someone without being nasty. Jamie isn’t a douche. Everything else you’re mostly right about but might take this opportunity to check in with yourself to understand why you’re coming with this type of energy.
@FrogPreacher You cannot do that if you’re Hairston. That’s letting your team down 101. Coach of course is going to protect his guy but I fully expect him to 1:1 and tell Hairston that was selfish. He doesn’t get the benefit of the doubt bc he’s Hairston.
