Lovely to see the ad. wood sandpiper at Cuckmere Haven this afternoon as reported by Tim Squires plus 3 juv LRPs and an adult black-t Godwit and a resplendent female adder basking on an ant hill.
@GaryWright62 Hi Gary. Yes, indeed, very much in a summery mode. Will be interesting to see how long it hangs around, though it is quite elusive at times.
At last some waxwings have made it down to the south coast. These little beauties were just north of the Cuckmere Inn, Exceat, or as I still prefer to call it, the Golden Galleon.
4 Bewick's swans this morning SE of Halfway Cottages, Sizewell, plus at Dingle Marshes, 2 spotshanks, 1 GW Egret, and c50 snow buntings on shingle ridge.
A day I never thought would happen on the Sussex coast, with a count of at least 115 Leach's petrels past Seaford during a 4 hour vigil to 13.40, from the comfort of one of 2 large shelters. 2 sabs gulls, 3 little gulls and a GN diver providing addictional entertainment.
After yesterday's excitement of HMS Queen Elizabeth off Seaford Head, which apparently was an unplanned return to Portsmouth due to a faulty lift, normality returned with a delightful juvenile Sabine's gull off Seaford seafront for around 15 minutes this morning.
@GavinMaclean3 @JonCurson Thanks Gavin. Just goes to show you can't predict what you may come across, which started out to check out yesterday's report of a red-backed shrike.
