Going off private to say that the only take on YCSE worth reading is @PatrikSandberg's. Stop being stupid and subscribe to Paraphernalia!

@gogetmagogetmoi i also do this, but it doesn't translate universally, as you'll see in all of this queen's videos, where practically everyone (even his friends) seem like they're under duress, as if to say "i think you think we're closer than we really are."

The single 7ilween off my new EP 3TWI is out now on @Hyperdub + a very cute video directed by my bestie @SophiaAlMaria & produced by NG Partners 🤍 https://t.co/VPeggeC4ds
Actually, this is the signature style of the Twitter insight pornographer circa 2022. It's a simple method once you understand it: you take a concept that everyone is familiar with, and then explicate it into its component parts and common associations. Then you map the web of conceptual relationships. Then you pick two or three that are glaringly unintuitive and workshop them until you get a formulation with the optimal combination of punch and color. You get bonus points if one of the words stings or transgresses a local subcultural norm (you wouldn't dare be so gauche as to appear concerned with the mainstream.) You need to give your audience just a bit of pain to trigger the faux-frisson that makes them feel like the original insight was their own. Otherwise the nerves won't motivate the thumb toward the like button.
You can tell the labs trained the models on tweets because these formulations have the register and rhetorical sophistication of an MFA (an observation, not a compliment) but there has never been an MFA who could tweet to save her life. I promise that the models did not learn to write clear, punchy contrasts from postcolonial metatextual queering-the-Oulipo "poetry."
Another piece of evidence: the style is soaked with the restraint that the professional class necessarily learns to avoid outshining their wealthy clients. This is partly structural to the programs but also an artifact of the social training of the average thinkpiece poaster, who always comes from the upper middle. Notice that the LLMs don't really give you Marvel style quips or garish advertising enthusiasm, even though the vast majority of their users are Kegan 3s.
Of course, the final way we know that the robots are poasters is that the labs themselves are full of inveterate poasters. These people are so hopelessly tweet-brained, the compulsive preference for this style is probably Teflon in their nervous system at this point.
AI Progress is just starting to foom so human poasters are still better than the bots for now, but weapons grade deepity porn is only a matter of months away. Maybe weeks. And people will absolutely slurp that slop until the heat death of their amygdalas, despite the fact that it contains no human wisdom at all. Because the feeling of having had an insight was always the point. The actual insight was just keeping it company.
@turtlekiosk what? no! i had no idea. here i’ve been treating Officium as a precious artifact of my 90s idealism and sexual awakening as played out thru my multiple scam identities for building my teenage classical library via BMG and Columbia House
@grahamcclark1 Yeah it definitely was, even in my small hometown in Texas, which opened its first sushi restaurant in 1985—the same year that sushi moved from California exoticism to Midwest mainstream when Molly Ringwald brought it as her detention lunch in Breakfast Club.
@rebirthcanal i hate it too but it in the opposite direction. my context for "asking" for food is in the context of a giant family full of fat tías and a zillion cousins/grandkids. only "DAME ___" is strong enough for that energy.
