Deeply honored to be appointed by the Australian National University as the 2026 Desmond J. Ball Visiting Chair in Strategic Studies. Des Ball was one of the greatest strategic thinkers in the world, and I had the privilege of working with him since I first met him in 1983, till his passing away in 2016. He inspired me to get into strategic studies and became a mentor, friend and collaborator. I will be in Canberra in May (8-12) to give the lecture on his honor, as well as few others at ANU, and visit Melbourne (6-7), Sydney (13) and Brisbane (14-15) to give talks on my book The Once and Future World Order. Several of these other city lectures are being organized by the Australian Institute of International Affairs as well as universities there.
Our IR201 @LSESummerSchool course on 'Power Shift: The West, the BRICS, and the Crisis of the Liberal International Order' will run on 13-31 July, taught again by my great colleague @rohan_mukh and yours truly. Share this with any interested students!
