“It was surprising to see just how clear this image was. We were able to see small-scale structures for the first time.”
#ANUExpert@NickolasPingel led the team that captured this stunning image, but can you guess what it is? 📷🤔🌌

And the Stream field. The filament in the upper right at ~200 km/s has a linewidth < 10 km/s. Assuming the same distance to the SMC, it's almost 800 pc long and < 100 pc wide! And of course it's almost at the edge of the ASKAP's massive field-of-view 🙄
Awesome new paper by my PhD student, Jack Livingston, using complexity of Faraday rotation to probe small scale fluctuations in the magnetised-ionised medium around the Milky Way's Centre. https://t.co/EH5PgHcrJy
I am excited and proud to be a scientist this National #ScienceWeek! I am passionate about STEM as it helps us solve challenges and discover the world around us.

Hi World - A new discovery I've been working on for several years now is finally out! We discovered ionized gas close to the center of the Milky Way in optical light using @WHAM_CTIO (Wisconsin H-Alpha Mapper)! https://t.co/Hl3raF33Ay
New and free to read in #MNRAS: Research led by K M Rajwade at @jodrellbank identifies possible periodic activity in the repeating FRB 121102 for the first time #astronomynews https://t.co/ar6WtSB3oL
My story on my trip to Lake Geneva. After months of isolating, it was striking to see so many people walking around with no masks and making little effort at social distancing: https://t.co/bqYVwnmHPP via @journalsentinel
With all pilot survey data on disk we look forward to seeing lots of exciting science in the coming months. Now data processing begins in earnest at @PawseyCentre
The journalism industry needs a stimulus to #SaveTheNews -- especially local news. Read more here and please subscribe to your local paper: https://t.co/uk01IVTPxJ @mkenewsguild.
Although 2020 is challenging, the countdown to ASKAP survey science continues. With procedures in place to protect observatory staff, data continues to flow from the telescope. Congrats to the GASKAP survey team on this image of the SMC 👏 @NickolasPingel https://t.co/EdntWPNHS8
Check out my new paper on our GBT survey of the HALOGAS galaxy sample. The tldr: no evidence for accreting neutral gas. What does that mean? More telescope time plz!
