Coming to the conclusion a few years late that you're not winning anything with Fox as your best player then trading him anyway

It's a lot harder for the hornets to push the chips in when your best guys are fringe top 30 players. It's not about deciding you want to win or not caring? You've got to have a top 10 talent to win

@HornetsLead With the new lottery being bad has no reward. Us sitting 8-12 while our young guys grow, picking up assets where we can and hopefully hitting on picks is just the smartest option. See where the roster is in a couple seasons then you've still got capital and flexibility for a push

@HornetsLead Agree with the return. In the end it was a proactive move, I'd love to believe that Lamelo's injury struggles are behind him but there is a real chance with him missing more time and being extension eligible that it would have ended up digging the hornets grave

I think we’re on the same page, I agree the trade wasn’t a win with what we got back but I do think we’re in a better position going forward. Idk how high you are on Coby but just having Naz instead of Miles I think is massive for how we play

@Nickstewart82 @British_Buzz Then we’ve lost all cap flexibility and are locking ourselves in with that core. We end up like the Kings of a few years ago. Sniffed the playoffs once, went all in and now they’re right back at the bottom

@Nickstewart82 @British_Buzz I hear you man but different ownership and front office. So far this new makeup has made almost exclusively great moves. Not necessarily when the other teams aren’t better but when our roster is ready to compete, most of the core is still under 25.

@Nickstewart82 @British_Buzz Wizards Pacers Heat Sixers Raptors are all coming into this season a lot better, the east is as competitive as it has been in the last couple decades. With so many good teams it just doesn’t make sense to rush it for a minimal payoff. Ultimately only one team can win it all

@Nickstewart82 @British_Buzz That’s where it helps to have the picks/cap flexibility to make those moves happen. It probably doesn’t seem like that player would want to come here but we have one of the deepest warchests in the NBA and can essentially outbid anyone

@Nickstewart82 @British_Buzz Yeah I think that Kons skill set is perfect for the third guy on a championship team, generational complementary player. If Miller can get himself to that all star/top 20 guy level then all of a sudden you’re in the market for the #1 guy to take you over the top

@BaxleyDaniel @Nickstewart82 @British_Buzz Us trading for a guy like brown is just a bad idea, he moves the needle ever so slightly. Gets us to the playoffs for a few seasons with no real shot at a title then probably wants out again. The FO has said they’re building for sustained success so you’ve got to be patient

@BaxleyDaniel @Nickstewart82 @British_Buzz Kon has the makings of one of the best complementary stars in the NBA, I’d guess the idea is hoping that Miller can get to the level of a 1b type player. Then you’ve got all these picks/attractive players to go pay over the odds on the guy you want to be the #1 guy

@Nickstewart82 @British_Buzz That’s what we need to avoid, the big 3 we had was flawed. Yeah this move doesn’t really raise the ceiling but it raises the floor. If we committed all that money to Lamelo and then he’s back to playing 40 games a year we’re screwed and in a bad place with the new lottery
