On the night of April 2nd 2025, three police officers, Inspector Stanley Yano, Sergeant Osman Omar, and Constable Robert Ouko (who was drunk and chewing miraa) arrived at my office. What started as an investigation into a reported noise complaint, quickly descended into a brutal assault.

When I questioned why Constable Ouko was operating a firearm while visibly intoxicated, he attempted to shoot me. The three officers then handcuffed me, dragged me out, and repeatedly beat me - even hitting me with a gun butt. The assault continued inside the police cell, stopping only after my colleagues raised an alarm.

I was hospitalized with several injuries, including a busted lip, bruised ribs, and soft tissue injuries to my wrists and knee. I reported the assault under OB No. 84/02/04/25, and even confirmed that the officers had stolen my watch and AirPods. I also reported the matter to the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) who did their investigation, interviewed witnesses, and forwarded the file to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP), with a recommendation to prosecute the officers. But almost a year later, the said officers are out here patrolling the streets, and harassing other citizens.

This is the height of impunity. I was physically assaulted by police, had my property stolen, and now I am the one in court facing assault charges. This fight is no longer just mine; it’s about standing up against police brutality and the weaponisation of the justice system against activists and citizens. Tomorrow, 12th March, 2025, at 9:00am, the person who assaulted me, Constable Robert Ouko will be testifying against me at Kibera Law Court. You’re welcome to fill the courtroom to stand against this injustice.
