Making our return to Twitter for today’s lunchout by members of the Fort Worth NewsGuild!
We withheld our labor to advocate for successorship & increased wages as we bargain with McClatchy for a new contract.
We look forward to the company acknowledging the value of our labor.
We continue to ask management for a response regarding voluntary recognition. We will move forward within 24 hours in a manner consistent with employees’ rights and the strength of majority support.
Introducing the Fort Worth Reporters Guild.
Thank you to everyone who has shown solidarity so far as we request voluntary recognition from Fort Worth Report management. We look forward to improving the quality of life for our staff and "steering trusted news forward."
With its mission of “steering trusted news forward,” the Guild's organizing committee emphasizes that the union's efforts are not meant to harm the Fort Worth Report’s image or reputation, but rather, to strengthen its mission and future.
We, the journalists and non-management staff of the Fort Worth Report, are unionizing with The NewsGuild and Communications Workers of America (TNG-CWA).
We ask our management to voluntarily recognize us.

1/ Last week, I found out @hou_landing would close in May. It hasn’t been an easy week, but what hurts the most are the promises we won't be able to fulfill to the communities here.
I always prioritized community-centered stories here and I hope to continue that in my next gig.
I can’t even explain how I’m feeling right now.
This newsroom has meant so much to me. Houston is my home and I can’t even believe what the loss of this newsroom will mean to communities.
