I had the honor to be part of the “Are BIL and IRA the coastal resilience game changers that we expected” panel at the @RAEstuaries Summit. My presentation focused on #BIL funding implementation through the @EPAwater National Estuary Program and Geographic Programs.
I’ve had the opportunity to be part of this historic moment for water and overburdened communities! Can’t wait to see all the environmental and social progress the #BipartisanInfrastructureLaw brings for our nation.
Today @EPAMichaelRegan announced $132M in funding for the National Estuary Program!

The authorities on Tuesday identified eight people, including four teenagers, who were believed to have died when a small plane crashed off the coast of North Carolina two days earlier. https://t.co/WaYsVgkYt9
A new study shows that after listening to student presentations or watching student-produced videos about ocean plastics pollution and other garbage in North Carolina waters, local officials and voters reported feeling greater concern about the issue. https://t.co/EtakxN5Sjj

Great article. Excited to see Biden “for the first time ever, bringing voices, perspectives, and expertise of #environmentaljustice communities into a formal advisory role at the White House.”
“We have to stop talking about plastic pollution as if it were confined to our oceans and start talking about global plastic pollution harming life everywhere. We have a plastic pollution pandemic from the tops of mountains to the bottom of the sea.”
Recently watched #Seaspiracy. Does it call attention to some important issues? Yes. Does it also completely undermine frontline efforts to build sustainable food systems around the world in communities where seafood is historically, culturally and economically important? You bet.
PhD student Anjali Boyd will serve as an early career liaison to the U.S. National Committee for the United Nations Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development. She will be the youngest member of the committee and the only student serving on it. https://t.co/RVBfw1zOQc
“In 2016, the United States generated the largest amount of plastic waste of any country in the world (42.0 Mt).” https://t.co/P6yaIgbKn3
Many narratives blame Southeast Asia for marine debris inputs, but much of that is plastic exported from the US and other developed countries
