Some people enter a journey as observers.
Some become supporters.
And a rare few become part of the soul of the mission itself. 🌍🌱

For me, and for our movement, #Dharitri & #OrissaPOST, together with CEO @AdyashaSatpath3 Madam, Editor-in-Chief @SatpathyLive Sir, and have been among those rare people whose presence transformed a small grassroots conservation effort into a vision carrying hope for #Ecosystems, #Communities, and #Generations.

There was a time when many people in our area called us “mad” for spending our days and nights protecting sea turtle nesting beaches, restoring mangroves in deep coastal mud, and speaking about climate resilience long before these conversations became mainstream.🙏

Many could not understand why young volunteers would dedicate themselves so deeply to ecosystems that most people overlooked.

But Dharitri & OrissaPOST chose to see something different.

They continuously came to our coastal landscapes, joined hands with our volunteers, walked through restoration sites, listened to local communities, and recognised our efforts again and again through their platforms and initiatives. Slowly, that recognition started changing the perception around us.

People began believing in our mission.
Communities started understanding the importance of mangroves, sea turtles, biodiversity, and climate resilience.
Young volunteers who once felt isolated started feeling seen, respected, and valued.

Their support through the "Dharitri Climate Grant" and the ₹1 lakh contribution became far more than financial assistance. For us, it became emotional strength and proof that grassroots climate action led by ordinary communities could create extraordinary change.

That belief strengthened our organisational growth and expanded our conservation efforts across coastal Odisha — from mangrove restoration and sea turtle conservation to protecting associated coastal ecosystems vulnerable to climate change.

And when the dream of “One Million Mangroves by 2030” was still only an ambitious vision carried quietly within our hearts, they chose to stand beside it from the very beginning — with trust, encouragement, humanity, and action.

What makes Adyasha Madam and Tathagata Sir deeply inspiring is not only their leadership in the media, but their ability to emotionally connect with people and causes that truly matter for the future of humanity and the planet. Through initiatives like the “#DharitriYouthClimateConclave,” they continue creating spaces where youth voices, environmental leadership, and hope for the future can grow together.

Today, every growing mangrove forest, every protected nesting beach, and every young volunteer stepping forward for nature carries within it the encouragement of people who believed in this movement before the world could fully understand it.

Sometimes, all a movement needs is a few people willing to believe in it before everyone else does. 🌿

Misleading claims on mangrove restoration in Odisha. We works in this landscape for 12+ years, and the “65 acres” claim does not match ground reality. Survival of their initiative plantations is highly vulnerable, and the image used here is not their restoration site.

During the initial phase, this same project lacked basic understanding of nursery development, community mobilization, and species identification—our team, Odisha Paryavaran Sanrakshan Abhiyan, supported these efforts on the ground.

We invite @MYBBSR for a joint field visit to all sites for transparent verification. Misrepresentation in the name of climate resilience undermines genuine, community-led conservation. Odisha’s future deserves facts, not narratives.

Meeting one of our most active and respected senior women leaders from the “Women for Mangroves” movement was truly inspiring. It was an honour to hand over the “Voices from the Coast” booklet, which highlights the last mile actions, struggles, leadership, and conservation efforts of women across coastal Odisha.

From the last mile coastal villages of the Devi River Mouth, women crab catchers who once depended on practices that unknowingly damaged mangroves are now becoming powerful conservation leaders. Through awareness, plantation, monitoring, and sustainable livelihood support, they are protecting biodiversity, strengthening climate resilience, and creating safer futures for their communities.

So far, we at Odisha Paryavaran Sanrakshan Abhiyan Trust have skilled and engaged 145 women from different targeted villages around the Devi River Mouth. Together, they have planted more than 48,000 mangrove saplings using best practices, with encouraging survival and restoration results.

Their leadership reflects the true spirit of “Women for Mangroves” and the dream of “Million Mangroves by 2030”.

We invite philanthropists, conservationists, CSR leaders, institutions, and all those who believe in community-led climate action to join us in creating a greener, safer, and more resilient coastline.

Once again, the Puri Wildlife Division fails — no patrols, no real strategy in place!!🐢🥺

The #DeviRiverMouth, one of Odisha’s crucial Olive Ridley nesting sites, is in danger. Like every year, the very first week has already exposed the weak enforcement on the ground. No effective patrolling, no monitoring — and soon, turtle mortalities will rise, only to be quietly buried overnight to conceal the crisis.

We urgently request immediate action to safeguard the Olive Ridleys and their nesting habitat at Devi River Mouth. Every delay costs lives — the situation is alarming and demands intervention.

ସଂଘର୍ଷ ମଧ୍ୟରେ ଲାଗିଥିବା ୨୮,୦୦୦ ହେନ୍ତାଳବଣର ବିଭିନ୍ନ ପ୍ରଜାତି ଚାରାକୁ ନଦୀ ସଂଲଗ୍ନ ଗାଁର ମା'ମାନେ ପ୍ରତିଦିନ ନଦୀ ଅତିକ୍ରମ କରି କରୁଛନ୍ତି ଏହାର ରକ୍ଷଣାବେକ୍ଷଣ ।

This afternoon, during our routine site visit, we closely observed and engaged with the daily efforts of our #WomenForMangroves team. These last-mile marginalized communities planted 28,000 mangrove saplings last year at the Devi River Mouth. Every day, they bravely cross the river in wooden boats to safeguard and nurture these fragile ecosystems, ensuring their survival through continuous care and vigilance.

These courageous women, once dependent on wetland resources in unsustainable ways, have now stepped up as frontline ecosystem stewards, taking on the daily responsibility of safeguarding mangroves. Braving the tides, they cross over rivers in wooden boats for their #ThengaPali routine patrol, ensuring no harm comes to the saplings they once overlooked.

Our continuous engagement with these grassroots champions allows us to track progress, strengthen local leadership, and scale up our community-led climate action model through Nature-Based-Solutions model. Their leadership reflects how inclusive participation can turn around fragile landscapes and empower communities to build climate resilience from the ground up.

We at Odisha Paryavaran Sanrakshan Abhiyan - OPSA TRUST invite like-minded partners to come on board and drive forward our shared vision of Million Mangroves by 2030.
