@vikramghanekar@maha_tourism@Dev_Fadnavis I am truly astonished at the level of plastic pollution across the Konkan coast. Been feeling utterly helpless! Urgently need to do something about it.
The ocean has hurled the trash back at this remote beach in Ganeshgule along the #Konkan coast. No corner of this country is free from human desecration. @maha_tourism@Dev_Fadnavis - our most pristine landscapes are under threat. Your urgent intervention is needed!
There’s a swacch Bharat tax imposed on us & no one is stopping the govt from fining litterers. But what are authorities doing about waste collection, segregation, disposal? Why is Bombay so filthy underneath the shiny new flyovers? Is the government not answerable, or is all governance now outsourced to citizens?
#India was meant to become the 4th largest economy this year. It’s now the 6th. The stock market in #Taiwan - an under $1 trillion economy - has overtaken India to become the 5th largest globally. It’s what happens without frontier tech, energy reserves & foreign capital.
Many next-gen corporate scions are choosing to live & study abroad, so it is logical that they would want to hold their assets in foreign currency, especially as the rupee loses 40% of its value to the dollar every decade. My piece @BBCWorld@BBCIndia

BBC: Why Foreign Tourists are falling out of love with Goa?
For the oldest reason in the world: Convenience and Cost. @Nik_Inamdar
Goa's challenge is that its ecosystem yet has delusions of grandeur. And an unwillingness to change. It's fine: The market will bring the change.
#Goa is brimming with local visitors, but there are decidedly fewer Europeans & Russians. Are overseas visitors who’ve patronised this coastal getaway since the hippie heyday of the 60s & 70s falling out of love with Goa? My piece - @BBCWorld@BBCIndia

It is not that India is running out of dollars, as it did during the 1991 balance-of-payments crisis, but that demand for dollars is beginning to outstrip supply at an uncomfortable pace.
I and @Nik_Inamdar examine what lies behind Modi’s austerity plea.

Analysts see the outcome not as a sudden upheaval but as the culmination of a decade-long political project. Unlike the BJP's rapid rise in Tripura or its earlier breakthrough in Assam, Bengal was never a lightning conquest. My piece. https://t.co/Y7yhk2ZzV8
In February, Alok (name changed), a business analyst based in the western Indian city of Pune, got a text message asking him to pay 1,000 rupees ($10.75; £7.9) as a speeding fine. @Nik_Inamdar

@shanutweets But how are these substantially different from the regular non branded ones from a design perspective (not quality)? Does merely collaborating with locals give them a free pass to label something so artisanal as ‘Prada’?
European fashion houses can copy GI tagged artisanal goods & get away with it by adding an “inspired by” footnote. But when small manufacturers in poor countries do the same with designer brands, these are seized at airports for being counterfeit. Double standards?

@mybmcWardGS@mybmc@Devendra_Office Thank you. This is the long stretch of pavements near Kamdar Park & Sadanand buildings, NM Kale Marg. Hope it’s cleared up soon.
Hi @mybmc@Devendra_Office this is the appalling state of a relatively new pavement built in Dadar/Prabhadevi. What do you plan to do about it? Pedestrians have nowhere to walk. The country’s financial capital can’t be in such shambles.
