त्रिमूर्ति - A New Approach.
In the 1970s and 1980s, being a banker in India was nearly as prestigious as being a civil servant. But in recent years, that prestige has diminished. When I read the woes of my young banker friends, it made me wonder: What is the missing link?
Banking, today, has become far more complex. Yet, a banker at times has to indulge his customers by printing out their passbook.
That's why, in my opinion, a Trimurti approach is required, which includes:
Induction Revamp:
A good start would be revamping the induction program, which often feels like a mix of history and general awareness lectures. Each bank has its own ethos, culture, and management style. The induction should aim to give new hires a fair understanding so they can begin to connect with their organisation.
Long-term Courses:
Top government officials often have mid-career opportunities to study at prestigious global universities. Unfortunately, in PSBs, only a select few at the top management level get similar opportunities, and that too at Indian institutes.
There’s a need to collaborate with institutions like NIBM and allow select candidates to pursue specialised courses. We should also find ways to make the one- or two-day training programs, often done for formality, more meaningful.
Beyond Lateral:
Instead of relying heavily on lateral recruits, banks should implement robust training programs for young staff in both clerical and officer cadres. As these employees grow into key roles like branch managers or regional or zonal heads, they should be equipped with the expertise to lead effectively and make quick, appropriate decisions that benefit the organisation.
There are new challenges in the industry now, like resource mobilisation and competition from different sectors, including fintechs. Only a highly competitive, skilled, and motivated workforce can handle this new age of banking effectively.
Banking is changing; but banks and bankers will remain in this world for all times to come.

Never confuse education with intelligence.
Intelligence isn't the ability to remember and repeat, like they teach you in school.
Intelligence is the ability to learn from experience, solve problems, and use our knowledge to adapt to new situations.

Unlock Hidden Property Deals. Your Amazon/Flipkart for Home Shopping!
The announcement in the newspaper about PC Jewellers caught my attention. They are negotiating with the State Bank of India to resolve a loan default, leading the bank to take over the promoters' posh houses.

While many miss or ignore advertisements of properties from loan defaulters for sale, and lose out on some choicest properties available in the market. But if you are a bit aware you can seize potential opportunities.
Engaging in the auction process for properties from loan defaulters offers an opportunity to acquire valuable assets at remarkably low prices. With diligent research, you too can unearth hidden gems, and acquire both residential and commercial property at a significant discount.
These bargain properties are like hidden treasures, and the reason they come at a steal is that most of us are blissfully unaware. Even the enlightened ones might be scratching their heads, uncertain about the whole process – it's like online shopping for real estate, but with extra drama.
Then there's this conservative bunch who'd rather keep their distance, probably afraid that buying one might bring them years of legal tangles. Additionally, a certain section of potential buyers avoid such opportunities due to superstitions or other apprehensions.
Forget the daily newspaper scavenger hunt! There's a magical website where you can find these hidden property gems, all neatly laid out on a single platform.

IBAPI portal is an initiative of Indian Banks Association (IBA) and display details of mortgaged properties to be auctioned online by Banks, starting with Public Sector Banks.
Prospective buyers may use this portal to search and view details of properties and participate in the auction process.
But consider these tips:
1. Verify property details with the bank, including the registered owner's name and encumbrances, ensuring informed participation in the bidding process.
2. The auction advertisements typically precede the event by two to three weeks, allowing time for thorough research and property inspection.
3. Check with your bank about obtaining a loan for such properties, providing an additional layer of due diligence.
4. Assess the locality and property prices in the area to make informed bidding decisions and avoid going overboard.
Happy Hunting!
