🤔I am not sure if I ever felt that the punditry around Manchester United ever has been more — delusional — than it is right now.

𝟭𝟬𝟬% 𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗽𝘂𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗳𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘀:
🔺We finished 21/22 11+ pts behind — all — of City, Liverpool, Chelsea, Tottenham and Arsenal.

🔺From that squad, we have today lost among others — Pogba, Ronaldo, Sancho, Greenwood, Cavani, Fred, Matic, DDG, Bailly, Telles and Donny.

To the squad, we have added — Antony, Casemiro, Martinez, Malacia, Rasmus, Mount, Onana and Eriksen — for a total of £380m (it’s only “400m” in euro), and some depth through loans/free signings.

Of the 7 players we paid £380m, only 3.6 has been available on avg per game this season.

🔺City, Chelsea and Arsenal have all spent significantly more than us — on new players since the end of the 21/22 season — if agent fees, wages etc are included. Tottenham have spent £355m on transfer fees and Liverpool like £270m.

We overspent 30m on Antony since the Glazers only increased the budget late last summer and Rasmus is to a large extent a signing for the future, he just turned 20 what 4 months ago.

🔺We have had 25 injuries this season.

Of our new signings since ETH came in — 𝗼𝗻𝗹𝘆 𝗧𝗪𝗢 — have been available most of this season, Onana and Rasmus, and in total only 3.6 new signings have been available on avg.

👉 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝘄𝗲 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗽𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗼𝘂𝘀𝗹𝘆 — since we haven’t made up any ground on City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham this season.

I just cannot understand how — 𝗮𝗻𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗲 — could have expected 𝗮 𝗹𝗼𝘁 from the squad we have had at our disposal this season. It literary makes me laugh. We lose 9 fairly significant players from 21/22, have 3.6 new players that we paid a transfer fee available on avg this season (no I don’t count Evans and co here). have a ton of injuries to players who remained from 21/22 — and we are supposed to have made up a ton of ground on clubs like City, Liverpool, Arsenal, Tottenham and Chelsea.

Its delusional.

Could we have done more? Sure, always possible to get more pts, but at the same time — it’s not like we had any margins with us.

👉This squad needs — a lot — of improvements.

👉We most certainly over performed last season and I would definitely question any claim that we have under performed this season. It’s the PL, you get nothing for free.

@EivindHolth Nei, du gjør ikke det. Og enig i at presset øker, og mekanismene ved tap etter tap kjenner vi til. Men, mener hva han gjorde i fjor, at han har tatt tak i garderoben (endelig blir det tatt grep!), uheldig med skader i år, gjør at han fortjener tid, støtte og tålmodighet.Har trua!
