Members of #parliament and politicians originating from #Somaliland, led by Somalia’s Deputy Prime Minister Salah Ahmed Jama and the Chief Justice Bashe Ahmed Yusuf, have spoken about issues concerning Somaliland and Somalia, accusing the Federal Government of Somalia of reneging on the agreements reached during the talks previously held between the two sides.
Additionally, the officials stated that the atrocities committed against the people of Somaliland have been denied, and that the rights owed to them, as well as the reparations that should have been provided, have been unjustly withheld.
They warned the government against taking measures that would affect Somaliland’s economy and the livelihoods of its people, and against using force against the people of Somaliland. They also cautioned against viewing the Somaliland issue through a clan-based lens, calling for an end to the insults directed at the people of Somaliland by officials of the Somalian government.
The remarks by these officials have shed light the extent to which relations have broken down between President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud’s administration and the officials allegedly representing Somaliland in Somalia following the recognition of Somaliland.
