Open Letter / Public Indictment - Erdoğan’s Bloody Hands: Turkey Arms Somali Dictator with Drones to Massacre Opposition in Mogadishu for Oil Profits
The Government of Turkey and President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stand guilty of direct complicity in the bloody atrocities committed last night (June 3-4, 2026) in Mogadishu. By arming, training, and shielding the corrupt, illegitimate former President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud - a power-hungry dictator from his narrow sub-sub-clan - Turkey has enabled the massacre of Somali civilians and the violent suppression of legitimate opposition leaders. This is not partnership. This is cynical, blood-soaked neo-colonialism motivated purely by greed for Somalia’s oil and gas.
Last night, Mohamud’s sub-sub-clan militias and regime forces, equipped and professionalized by Turkey, launched premeditated attacks on opposition strongholds in districts like Hodan, Howlwadag, and around the residences of former Prime Minister Hassan Ali Khaire and former President Sharif Sheikh Ahmed. Heavy gunfire, RPGs, armored assaults, and indiscriminate violence killed and injured civilians, displaced families, and turned residential areas into war zones. Turkish-donated weapons - meant for fighting Al-Shabaab - were turned on peaceful Somali protesters and political rivals demanding constitutional rule.
Turkish military equipment and weapons directly used in these last night’s atrocities include:
• Bayraktar TB2 and Akıncı armed drones- supplied by Turkey, deployed for surveillance, targeting, and strikes in densely populated urban areas.
• Turkish-supplied armored personnel carriers (APCs) and tanks - multiple destroyed or burned during assaults on opposition areas, proving their active role in the crackdown.
• Armored military trucks, heavy artillery, anti-tank weapons, and logistical support from Turkey’s Camp TURKSOM base, Gorgor commando units, and broader training programs.
• Other advanced weaponry and vehicles that enabled sustained overnight operations against civilians.
Turkey knew - or deliberately ignored - that this arsenal would be used for domestic repression to keep Mohamud in power forever by force. Your silence and continued support make you directly responsible for every drop of Somali blood spilled.
The only reason Erdoğan’s regime looks the other way? A predatory hydrocarbons deal that hands Turkey up to 90% of revenues through outrageous cost-recovery clauses, leaving Somalia with scraps. Oil and gas profits have bought Turkey’s blind eye to dictatorship, clan violence, and potential war crimes. This is naked resource plunder dressed up as “cooperation.
Legal Consequences for Turkey and President Erdoğan:
• Complicity in war crimes and crimes against humanity: Supplying weapons knowing they would be used against civilians in urban areas can trigger individual and state liability under international law, including the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court. Erdoğan and Turkish officials risk future prosecution, arrest warrants, and sanctions.
• Violation of arms embargoes and end-use agreements: Turkey has a history of questionable drone transfers; repurposing counter-terrorism aid for internal repression violates international norms and could lead to global arms embargoes or lawsuits.
• Civil and diplomatic repercussions: Lawsuits by Somali victims’ families, asset freezes, travel bans, and demands for reparations. History will record Erdoğan alongside other enablers of African tyrants who traded guns for resources.
• Calls for immediate UN, AU, ICC, and independent investigations into Turkish complicity in the June 2026 Mogadishu massacres.
Turkey and Erdoğan - You are not innocent bystanders. You are active enablers and profiteers of this bloodshed. Your hands are stained with Somali blood for black gold. The Somali people will never forget, and the world is watching. Any further violence enabled by your weapons will only deepen your guilt and accelerate your isolation.
We demand:
• Immediate halt to all Turkish military support, drone operations, and equipment transfers to Mohamud’s regime.
• Withdrawal of Turkish forces/personnel from domestic operations.
• Full transparency on the exploitative oil deal and its renegotiation in favor of Somalia.
• Erdoğan personally apologize and face accountability.
The Somali people reject this Turkish-backed dictatorship. Any more deaths last night or in the future rest squarely on Ankara’s conscience - or lack thereof.
Signed
MP Dr. Abdillahi Hashi Abib

Somaliland, your opinions needed.
I saw this post over the Ciid holiday. I usually ignore the unhinged ramblings from this account, but this specific delusion crosses the line and needs to be dragged into the light. Specifically:
1. The so called "Red Zone" lie and
2. The claim they made the Isaaq Genocide "mainstream".

Somaliland is not a breakaway state, Somaliland got it's independence from Great Britain on 26 June 1960 and recognized 35 countries including the veto power countries.
On 18 may 1960 Somaliland restoration day of independence.
Somaliland isn't breakaway
My DM was bombarded by those who are on this platform to insult people just because I reported positive things I saw in #Hargeisa.
#Somaliland announced its separation from #Somalia in 1991.
At that time, I was 11 years old. Those who are my age in Somaliland and those who were born after that year are now full-grown men and women who are ruling Somaliland and are the biggest stakeholders.
Spewing hatred towards their beliefs will not change the reality on the ground but will strengthen their stance.

Calling every inconvenient truth 'fake news' is ridiculous.
Shame on you bro.
Ambassador David Lee Carden, former United States Ambassador to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), delivered a powerful and visionary speech at the #Somaliland Independence Recognition Institute, drawing on decades of experience in diplomacy, urban planning and nation-building.
Using lessons from the Great Chicago Fire and Singapore’s transformation into a global hub, Carden said resilient nations can turn adversity into opportunity through innovation, strategic governance and long-term vision.
He described #Somaliland as a society with enormous untapped potential, arguing that its stability, strategic location and democratic progress position it for a stronger future and deeper international engagement.
