A major wildfire in the Cairngorms National Park has forced Police Scotland to declare a major incident in the Highlands of Scotland.
Nethy Bridge village has been fully evacuated, with access roads closed and exclusion zones in place. Popular tourist areas, including Loch Morlich, Glenmore, Abernethy Forest and Cairngorm Mountain, have also been shut due to the extreme fire risk.
Heavy smoke has drifted up to 60 miles away, prompting air quality warnings for parts of Aberdeenshire and Aberdeen City. Authorities are reminding the public that all fires and barbecues are currently banned across the national park.
