वाराणसी में आयोजित एक ऐतिहासिक समारोह में 19 वर्षीय वेदमूर्ति देवव्रत महेश रेखे को शुक्ल यजुर्वेद (माध्यंदिन शाखा) के अत्यंत कठिन दण्डक्रम पारायण को सफलतापूर्वक पूर्ण करने पर सम्मानित किया गया। इस प्रकार की साधना पिछले तीन सौ वर्षों में केवल कुछ ही बार सम्पन्न हुई है।

जगद्गुरु शंकराचार्य श्री श्री भारती तीर्थ महास्वामीजी और जगद्गुरु शंकराचार्य श्री श्री विदुशेखर भारती महास्वामीजी के आशीर्वाद से भव्य शोभायात्रा और नागरिक अभिनंदन का आयोजन किया गय��। शोभायात्रा के दौरान काशी की सड़कों पर वैदिक मंत्रोच्चार, शंखध्वनि, दक्षिण भारतीय वाद्ययंत्रों की ताल और बड़ी संख्या में जुटे श्र���्धालुओं की उपस्थिति ने पूरे वातावरण को दिव्य बना दिया। मार्गभर पुष्पवृष्टि और पारंपरिक संगीत ने कार्यक्रम को विशेष रूप से आकर्षक बना दिया।

दक्षिणाम्नाय श्री शारदापीठ, शृङ्गेरी की ओर से देवव्रत को ₹5 लाख का बहुमूल्य स्वर्ण कंगन और ₹1,11,116 की सम्मान राशि दी गई।। यह सम्मान पीठ की ओर से डॉ. तंगीराल शिवकुमार शर्मा ने उभय जगद्गुरुओं के आशीर्वाद के साथ प्रदान किया।

विद्वानों के अनुसार दण्डक्रम पारायण वैदिक अध्ययन की सबसे कठिन विधियों में से एक मानी जाती है, जिसमें स्वरों, संधि-विच्छेद और विरोध-संधि की अत्यंत सूक्ष्म गणनाएँ शामिल होती हैं। इसे परंपरागत रूप से वेद के मुकुट के रूप में भी जाना जाता है।
