Another week, still important message to remember.
Hardwork != hours
Sometimes, it means not delaying a tough conversation.
Sometimes, it means writing a clear document vs not shooting argumentative messages on Slack.
Sometimes, it means making the effort or understand a stakeholders viewpoint vs sticking to your own.
Sometimes, it means defining smaller chunks of incremental milestones.
Sometimes, it means rehearsing every aspect of your talk vs just going on the stage impromptu.
Hard things are hard because that's not our first response. This involves deliberate practice.
Long hours has a tapering impact (not sure what that limit is - 40 or 70 - or even if it's consistent and if it's enforced or your choice).
One good day does not mean you can coast tomorrow. You never have it fully licked. Making good choices is an endless process. Many areas of life that we value most—our relationships, our fitness, our craft—require a continual commitment.
Friendly reminder that in three generations everyone who knew us will be dead.
Including the people whose opinions stopped you from doing what you wanted all along.
Software engineers should care about system reliability, not just SREs.
If you're building software systems, then you have a vested interest in making sure those systems are as reliable as possible.
