@discoball2000 This is poor article by @smh@LucyCormack . Ignores the fact that Western Sydney also got priority vaccines at that time in very scarce supply.
NSW targeted approach proved very effective, much better than Vic's city / state wide approach.
@_davidlimbrick My 12 yo daughter was refused entry for school uniform fitting and told she would have to try clothes on the footpath out the front of the store. Humiliated.
I was at a Squire’s Loft in Melbourne yesterday and not one staffer was wearing a mask. I queried them and was told ‘ we don’t have to’. Wrong. Won’t go back.
@elisethoma5 You should also ask why most in Melbourne?
Clearly Vic where leader indulged most in harsh lockdowns & over policing based on exaggerated fear mongering, often targeting harmless "rule breakers" but ignoring authorised worker spread, drove many normies to conspiracy social media
@OmgIAmOver30@QuentinFry Yes, as long as there are a range of options, and the unvaxxed have places to go. Unvaxxed ghettos are worst outcome, particularly as the unvaxxed will be disproportionally jobless, ethnic, lower socio-economic, mentally ill, homeless etc.
@OmgIAmOver30@QuentinFry Yes. Humans (& I think some apes) are the only species with left-handed individuals (about 15%). Evolutionary theory is it makes us stronger as a species to have a small subset of people doing weird shit which forces everyone to adapt and be on lookout for unexpected behaviour.
In 10 days, Singaporeans can travel to Australia for fun, while I - a taxpaying resident who's lived in Australia for years - still have no idea when I'll be allowed to leave to visit ageing parents and then return to Australia.
Why?
Aussie friends: please. make. this. stop.
@RLonglegs @Glaven1994 You don't. Burnet was in charge in Victoria.
Had lots more vax than NSW at comparable outbreak times, but didn't prioritise sending it to the high case LGAs like NSW did successfully, cos Burnets believed vax won't do anything to stop spread unless it is 80% DD. 🧨💥🦠🦠🦠. 🤦♀️
Australia has utterly failed me and a million other “temporary” residents living here for years. As Aussies go on holiday overseas, I wait indefinitely for cancelled surgery and am still forbidden from going to see my family.
Why am I even here? This isn’t the country I came to.
