@Fr64551577Peter@TMFScottP You should read Wages of Destruction. The Nazi economic ‘miracle’ was all a lie built on sand. Main reason he went to war when he did was that it was all due to collapse.
@traderaka@MWCrispyRoll@PaulSkallas I’m always shocked at the horrific standard of the average American coffee. The complaints you would get in Australia if that was put on by a hotel…
@PaulSkallas As an Australian who has to visit the US multiple times a year I despair at what most Americans put up with for coffee. And why is Australia so good? The Italians…
@FreightAlley I struggle to understand how many Americans think the world is a zero sum game - I work for an American company that makes about half of revenues overseas. More expensive oil reduces our sales globally, but especially outside US. More expensive fuel is bad for nearly everyone.
@scottlincicome One of my friends worked on and off as a sheep shearer in his youth and one shocking thing he told me was about the relatively high fatality rate of the process in terms of some sheep just having heart attacks. I doubt that this would reduce with greater automation.
@johnkonrad I don’t doubt that America and the Marshall plan saved Europe after WWII, but it also made the US economy the largest by far in the world and the dollar the reserve currency. You think the US in a multipolar world is going to more successful? Because I highly doubt it
@mattyglesias Most important thing in WORLD politics. This is what shocks me amongst a lot of American leftwingers - not realising that Trump is infinitely worse than Kamala for every other nation (except Russia)
@FreightAlley Inadvertently this a huge advert for globalisation as a strong bulwark against catastrophic conflict. Which tbh is still what the vast majority of the world believes apart from the nutters in charge of the US.
@markbishopuk@TheEconomist@zannymb You have totally missed the point. Which is quite an achievement when the literary style is so obvious. (Also highlights that you actually know nothing of the paper as all their obits are like this)
