I wrote Excel macros for my Dad 25 years ago that still run the reporting part of his wealth management business. He still uses them daily, zero bugs and zero calls or drama around it for all that time. $15B assets under advisory. I’m very proud of that
@alexmwanzo GIZ hapana mchezo especially in TVET. Mnajua TVET is already running CBET in readiness for the CBC classes? And its courtesy of GIZ. They funded development and review of the curricula. GIZ is also a stakeholder in dual training and RPL.
Universities are now trying to catch up.
One of the bleaker concepts I've come across in psychology is this idea of hedonic adaptation.
For instance. Look at where you are today. 22 or 23 or 24 year old version of yourself would probably be pretty stoked how things have turned out (I hope).
And yet looking at yourself today, you are likely somewhat dissatisfied. Or only see the gaps. Or feel like you're not "there" yet and have "so much more" to go.
And we never, ever stop and smell the proverbial roses and think "gosh, I've actually done so much".
That, my friends, is hedonic adaptation. And it's functionally equivalent to your brain hijacking your own satisfaction. For good evolutionary purpose, btw - but it just makes us miserable.
So a reminder for everyone else as much as myself - stop and smell the roses. And realize how far you (we) have come.
I saw a post on Reddit that said, “When you walk through a museum, you’re not just looking at art. You’re moving through centuries of people trying to explain love, grief, power, beauty, and belonging.” I don’t think I’ve ever seen a museum described so beautifully.
Assad cut his leg when he tried to break a glass door to reach her during an argument and lost too much blood, later dying of a blood infection at the hospital
I'm not surprised she was acquitted
If you're in a toxic relationship just leave, it never ends well
This line from Atomic Habits isn't ready to leave my head:
"It doesn't make sense to continue wanting something if you're not willing to do what it takes to get it. If you don't want to live the lifestyle, then release yourself from the desire. To crave the result but not the process is to guarantee disappointment."
It is an old Roman custom. A convicted man was given time to go home and commit suicide. That way his family could take over his property. If the state executed him, all his property would go to the state.
If you had invested Ksh 1,000,000 in DTB at the end of 2020, your 5+ year investment journey would have tested your patience before rewarding you.
You would have watched your investment fall to about Ksh 610,351 by the end of 2023 and done nothing.
Then watched it recover to about Ksh 935,000 by the end of 2024 and still do nothing.
Then watched it grow to about Ksh 1.53 million by the end of 2025 and still do nothing.
Yesterday, DTB closed at Ksh 146.50, meaning that same investment would now be worth about Ksh 1.98 million (excluding dividends).
Before you open a stock trading account and start investing, understand that successful investing requires patience. You must be comfortable with volatility and stay invested.
Psychologist Ron Friedman and his colleagues surveyed thousands of workers to uncover what separates good teams from great ones.
1. They found a tiny group of high-performing individuals—what they call "superteams"—share three things in common:
2. They get more done by using their time, energy, and attention efficiently.
3. They share work early, get input from colleagues, and revise before it ever reaches the boss or client.
They run experiments ~50% more often than average teams, even when things are already working,
