Welcome to Naomi Yorks, who joined our team this week as the new Deputy Head of Mission!

Naomi studied International Relations at the University of Groningen and has worked for the @DutchMFA since 2011. Before Athens she worked in The Hague, Iran and Costa Rica.

This morning we dropped off some donations from our Embassy for the victims of the #Athens wildfires. They will be delivered to the most affected municipalities. Thanks to our Hungarian colleagues for this wonderful @HU24EU initiative! 🇳🇱🤝🇬🇷

A citizenship ceremony is always a special moment for an Embassy. This morning Deon Eksteen, accompanied by his wife, made the official pledge in Dutch in which he promised to respect the freedoms & rights that come with 🇳🇱 nationality. Gefeliciteerd Deon! 🥂

Today, on July 17, we commemorate the #MH17 tragedy, in which 298 innocent lives, including 196 Dutch citizens, were lost.

Ten years on, the grief remains profound. The Netherlands remains determined to seek truth, justice, and accountability for the downing of Flight MH17.

Today the new 🇳🇱 Cabinet of Prime Minister Dick Schoof was sworn in by HM The King, with one familiar face. The new Minister of Foreign Affairs as of today is Caspar Veldkamp, who was our Ambassador from 2015-2019. We wish him all the best & hope to see him in Athens again soon!
