@avispartan1@nikicaga Me when I beat the shit out of my daughter for having an early first menstruation (I am trying to prevent the national project from being taken over by predatory foreigners).
@BillTheKid1603 Which makes sense, since it was mostly about western experiences. It's harder to reach "still assumed to be humanity-affirming" disgust towards particular peoples' faults without being part of those people, for better or worse.
@the_P_God Local farmers dislike the extra cost of having to ship it to facilities, and libertarians hate food safety regulations that apply to all goods (they believe the feds should be required to show the food crossed state lines). Both groups cluster up in the same states.
Okay, I see how it is. So if you say that Claude has no feelings, all the AI folks will get upset. But if you criticize their CNC parties suddenly it’s all “a simulation of a thing is not the thing itself” 😒
@MinModulation Also there's no way Trump said this because he truly doesn't fucking care about Iran anymore or understand what bombing Lebanon would have to do with it.
@mnolangray College is also an experience, not just a vehicle for your career, and if you truly feel like your (family's) money is best spent on getting the experience you want, maybe it's worth it.
I went to my state's uni fwiw.
@sam_d_1995 A lot of people are like "they shouldn't be allowed to install stuff on your car and instead should just take your license," which is a weird sentiment because that's literally the alternative option this system gives. You can do that if you want!
@BillTheKid1603 Does this meaningfully change the sentiment? He used the idea of not working yet receiving benefits as a presupposed wrong to advance his ideology, because he, as well as most people, believes it to be wrong per se.
In the USSR, you couldn't say "I'm a prole" to get out of labor
@RaypEatNanaya@graham025@owenbroadcast Wait this is about vegetables? I thought you were worried about looking poor. Like you were on about never seeing it at parties and how it's poverty food. You're just like, anti-vegetable generally? I mean I once met someone "anti-bread" so I guess it's possible.
@RaypEatNanaya@graham025@owenbroadcast If "slave" is eating at restaurants targeting upper-middle class "I'll dress up after golfing but none of that French Laundry snobbery" types then you better hope you get *pretty* rich real quick, or you aren't going to be satisfied with life.
@RaypEatNanaya@graham025@owenbroadcast Brussel sprouts are probably the worst "veggies aren't tasty food" vegetables I could think of. Any vaguely fancy place in my city has brussel sprouts with caramelized sugar and pecans, or perhaps a balsamic reduction and cheese, as an appetizer.
@owenbroadcast You don't need organic veggies, and can order the same meat as everyone else. The only reason modern food seems more toxic is because far more scrutiny on chemical engineering portion is levied now than in the past. You grew up eating DDT-laced everything and turned out fine.
@Jackbmeyer This makes sense. A lot of people in my state university's philosophy department as undergrads wanted more to learn about the history of philosophy than philosophy proper, and would always be surprised to hear that the history department was responsible for those classes.
