We're starting a much needed and overdue debate about the future of mainstream politics – no holding back, no pulling punches. From The Power Test team.
One of the most interesting conversations we’ve had - is Westminster incapable of solving problems?
Huge thanks to @stellacreasy and @DamianHinds for taking time out to chat with us.

A reunion episode this week (for those who remember The Power Test) as @Samfr joins the herd to set out why the left must continue to slay the belief that putting well-intentioned, progressive people in charge will automatically make the state function effectively. Listen now!
The problem with labelling it ‘progressive education’ was that, if you’re progressive, you automatically assume this must be a good thing!
It took education debate away from science and into the arms of identity politics 🤦♂️ 😔
Good to see people outside the world of education taking an interest in the weird ideologies which permeate the establishment.
I wish more policy makers would take such an active interest and get to understand the challenges.
Be more Gibb.
We’re back at school after half term with a new episode on the fallacies of so-called ‘progressive education’ and why the left need to learn tough lessons about the future of the classroom. Featuring @daisychristo + @Kris_Boulton with regulars @AnnaCMcShane & @Ed_Owen! Out now!
US think-tank @ThirdWayTweet's @jsfreed joins the herd to lay out why Keir Starmer needs to slay the sacred cow that the only way to save UK-US relations is to keep up the bromance with President Trump.
While Westminster wailed about coups and plots, last week @AnnaCMcShane laid out another teething problem - what to do about babies. A popular discussion on the right, what does the left think about declining birth rates and how should we support families? Out now everywhere!
You can listen right now on Substack at https://t.co/PmKXIRDOhy or find us tomorrow on your streams at Apple Podcasts or Spotify and wherever you get your pods. One not to miss!
This week Keir Starmer biographer @TomBaldwin66 joins the herd and lays out why it's time for the centre-left to get over its timidity on Brexit and offer something to a huge portion of Labour's vote currently looking elsewhere. It’s a big conversation.
Herd member @AnnaCMcShane in the @FT today setting out how politicians and the centre left need to speak clearly to people not in some weird totally remote language nobody understands.👇
