@GoWithJordan_ It's also completely fair for you to think the Church you attend or subscribe to is the 1 True Church. I don't know why anyone would attend a church if they didn't think it was God's unique earthly institution for tending his flock.
@GoWithJordan_ Schisms do not disprove that one might be THE true Church of Christ.
When Joseph Smith asked God which church to join, he expected 1 of the many to be THE true Church.
To his surprise, Christ said none were.
Probably not to his surprise, schism followed the Restored Church too.
@IowaResideav@Apologetics941 I guess I should clarify... there are 2 types of direct access... the direct access of prayer and personal revelation through the Holy Spirit. The 2nd type is direct access to his presence which only occurs in temples: hallowed ground on earth for Christ to visit bodily.
@Apologetics941 None of that says anything about temple worship ending. Neither is it written to be comprehensive.
You're performing exegesis. I am as well, but where you're drawing from a singular instance of scripture, I exegete from the whole as well as the history.
@nicoraytruth Part of the issue is the assumption of purely being for health:
"Behold, verily, thus saith the Lord unto you: In consequence of evils and designs which do and will exist in the hearts of conspiring men in the last days, I have warned you, and forewarn you..." D&C 89:4

For years MS-Xbox has been trying to purchase success in the Console Games space.
If Xbox hopes to return to 360 Era Greatness it needs to parse down, get scrappy, and make high quality-no-controversy AAA games.

@ryanswalters73 "Who honestly believes this?" is neither argument nor evidence. It is merely an expression of subjective incredulity. What exactly is unbelievable: that God could do such a thing, the Gulf of Mexico, or the person making the claim?
@ryanswalters73 Note the conditional nature of the prophecy. One might note the thriving of Latter-day Saints and fair treatment in modern courts as "redress"... but if that doesn't do it for you, apply the same standard to "missed" biblical prophecies.

@Danuscript@ThoughtfulSaint RE: The Creedal Trinity. I think it's telling the first 'three persons, one substance' language is late 2nd, early 3rd century AD; reinforces scholarly consensus and LDS claim that the 'Trinity' via the Creeds is not within the text of the bible.
Your faith is your faith though.
@Danuscript@ThoughtfulSaint Yeah - Ok. I did think the Irenaeus quote supported what I think Jacob was getting at: early Christian teachings affirm or are adjacent to LDS "restored" doctrine.
@Danuscript@ThoughtfulSaint I'm sorry if I'm a little confused. Didn't you originally quote Iraneus to demonstrate a Trinitarian configuration? This longer quote - which I agree is Trinitarian - is from Tertullian. Or what did I miss?
@stackerco Also worth noting, it's the creeds specifically that are called abominable. And I would guess that's because they not only get the Godhead wrong, but require that specific 'confession' for a Christian's conviction to be acceptable.
Probably more to it than that though.
@stackerco Not sure why this is even controversial... other than the world's heavily anti-LDS prejudice. The existence of any religion presupposes the others are wrong... whether they state it outright or leave it only in implication.
@sister_slay Always fun to pick the thing you know the inlaws struggle with and hammer that home like salvation depended on it.
You probably won't have to do devotionals again. They may even cancel them outright.
