Jeff Eller deserves credit for steering @NoTax4Tracks camp. Eller, an ex-staffer in Clinton White House and Bill Boner's mayor's office, works mainly w/ corporate clients today. He was recruited to return to Nashville for transit fight by Aubrey Harwell. https://t.co/DG8YMsyvl5
the greatest gift of my recent partnership with @NoTax4Tracks has been an opportunity to partner with diverse people, many of whom would be a odds politically on tons of issues, who came together around one specific issue that resonated with the masses. that's how you heal.
Last night Nashville won a $9 billion battle against tone deaf media, out of state agitators, and a default mayor. Issue: Do Nashville voters want record high taxes for light rail/tunnel transit boondoggle. Answer? Landslide NO❗️

@johnmaddox@alliplattsmier@nativenashdude@NoTax4Tracks@charlesrbone leadership starts at the top in Metro. we can--and we will--come up with some better solutions. let's give a couple of days for people to calm their minds, then it's forward with electing some leadership that can bring people together.
Tonight, the People of Nashville spoke loudly and clearly, affirming the need for a new and inclusive direction. I congratulate @TransitForNash & @MayorBriley for a sincere effort to fix a major issue. I look forward to charting a Transit solution, together. #ForThePeople
@NoTax4Tracks When 1 side belittles their opponents and says we have to vote yes or face doomsday, coupled with seeing numerous near empty metro buses on the streets each day made this a tough sale.
Good Job Nashville! I’m proud of you for sticking together for what’s RIGHT! It’s our money and we deserve what best serves us all!
Big thanks to the @NoTax4Tracks team and @Revjoc for your diligence and hard work endlessly educating the community about the referendum!
22k+ voted to tax themselves to improve transit. That is not a loss, that is a start. Many cities fail at the ballot box the first time. Looking forward to @NoTax4Tracks, @BestNashTransit, and @Revjoc participating in future planning... ‘cause that’s what they promised.
@MayorBriley #Breaking “We all can agree that we have to do something about traffic and transportation, but voters didn’t get behind this plan. My responsibility as Mayor is to get back to the drawing board and find the common ground to develop consensus on a new way forward....
Early voting on the Nashville transit plan showed more than 38,000 'No' votes and just over 20,000 'Yes' votes. Follow all night for updates:
