Thanks to a complaint issued by our Partner @NABU_Biodiv, the European Commission took Germany to court for failing to protect critical grassland habitats.

Today, the EU Court of Justice ruled that EU countries must have binding measures to tackle key drivers of habitat loss — in this case, over-nutrition and early mowing in protected Natura 2000 grasslands.

This ruling is a big win for biodiversity and reinforces the power of the Habitats Directive to protect our natural heritage. 🌱

במקומה, אנחנו צופים בעיניים כלות ומסונוורות משמש אכזרית בפעולה ההפוכה — בין השנים 2022–2023 נכרתו 130 אלף עצים לשם בניית תשתיות.

זה טרגי עבור כל הישראלים, כי את הנתון הבא מכיר על בשרו כל מי שאי פעם צעד בעיר ישראלית כלשהי: פער הטמפרטורות בין רחוב מוצל באמצעות עצים לבין כזה שאינו מוצל עשוי להגיע ל–5–7 מעלות צלזיוס״.

The uproar in Europe's farmer protests goes beyond headlines.

Conservative and far-right parties, together with powerful agri-unions, continue blaming the limited and poorly enforced environmental legislation the EU has in place for all challenges farmers face.

But lowering green measures only adds fuel to the (climate) fire. It’s putting all of us at risk, especially farmers themselves, whose yields are already affected by the ever-increasing droughts, fires, and floods ravaging our continent.
