Sometimes I start writing a short tweet.
And then I’m like
“Ugh. There’s more to add to make this worthy of reading”
And what’s supposed to be a short tweet…
Becomes a thread.
And now I have to write and edit and publish.
Poof. 1 hour is gone.
Creating good content isn’t “easy”.

Hey, Job Seekers in Nigeria 🇳🇬!!!
Here's the untold truth about getting hired in 2023 and how to avoid the Unemployment Trap!
According to KPMG..
Nigeria's unemployment rate increased from 37% to 41% in 2023.
And it's projected to hit 44% in 2024.
The reason for this is because every year Nigeria releases 4-5 million new graduates into the labour market.
That means if you're just gaining admission into college by the time you graduate 4-5 years later..
you'll be joining a staggering population of over 20m job seekers.
----
According to the recently published 'KPMG Global Economy Outlook report, H1 2023..
it stated that the persisting issue of unemployment in Nigeria will persist due to the sluggish economic growth
and the inability of the job market to accommodate the annual influx of 4-5 million new job seekers.
----
I ran a Reality Check post yesterday which revealed that over 90% of college graduates in Nigeria aren't working in their field or course of study.
Apart from the mental development, it's almost safe to assume that most of these folks wasted time in college.
So here's my free advice for anyone hoping to escape the unemployment snare.
----
For would-be Students:
🟢 focus on studying relevant courses like:
• programing
• design
• sales & marketing
there are just too many of them lately (add yours in the comments section).
----
For Undergraduates:
🔴 don't wait till reality hits hard on you. If you aren't doing so already, start developing high income skills.
→ The job market is no longer looking for 1st class honors, it's looking for capable hands. You may have a 1st class and still lose the job to a more skilled high school degree holder.
----
For Job seekers:
🟡 it's high time you read the handwriting on the wall and start building yourself. Give yourself a new education -- learn in-demand, high-income skills
Most of these tech or marketing courses don't last longer than 6 months & it's definitely cheaper to acquire compared to paying for a Masters or doctorate degree.

The reason you don't have what you want is because you don't deserve it.
Or, more accurately, you haven't earned it.
When you do deserve it, you'll have it.
The answer to, "Why don't I have what I want?" is "Because you aren't doing what needs to be done."
