So many opinions, so little data
Let's see we have the CDC data saying it's gone up every year they’ve looked from 1:110 in 2006 to 1:36 today, but according to the article, we’re supposed to dismiss that. How to settle this?
Hey, here’s something you can try at home:
Find a pediatrician or school teacher >65yo and ask them: “How often did you see autistic kids early in your career compared to now?”
Report your results below
WSJ Author asserts financial incentives have led to kids receiving ASD diagnoses who don’t have it. So old # s may be true, but the current ones are inflated. Hmm..
If true >2/3 of all ASD diagnoses done by professionals on 8yr olds would have to be false..
Here’s the math:
CDC ASD prevalence for 8yr olds
-2006: 9 per 1000
-2020: 28 per 1000
Now if we assume 2006 is correct, then 19 of the 28 eight yr olds diagnosed in 2020, didn’t really have it. (67.8%)
So the vast majority of modern diagnoses are false?
But wait, the author says that the growth is due to law changes in 1973 and 1990, so she's implying that even the 2006 number must be severely inflated.
But, uh oh, that means that even >67% of all ASD diagnoses done in 2020 by professionals on 8 year old children are false.
Really? We’re supposed to believe this?

WSJ: What’s Behind the Rise in Autism? https://t.co/q0WJe8n3jx states: Autism rates are not really going up
We say: While skeptics are free to believe autism rates are not increasing, the burden of proof now lies with those who refute the mountain of data stating otherwise
DEVELOPMENTAL REGRESSION is now increasingly accepted as part of the case history of some with autism. A new study has reported finding a potential biological signature associated with regressive-onset autism as compared to non-regressive onset.https://t.co/r5t9USZXLX
FEVER DURING PREGNANCY seems to increase the risk of offspring neurodevelopmental disorder - particularly later receipt of autism spectrum disorder - according to a recent review of the published research. https://t.co/QoKhkGeATn
Our latest (peer-reviewed) paper is out... Is Autism Inborn And Lifelong For Everyone? https://t.co/SrIeXZI1WC Heterogeneity is key. Regression is real. And for whatever reason(s), 'lifelong' is not necessarily an accurate description for every single experience of autism.
"My hope is that some of that additional research funding will be directed beyond genetics to newly emerging areas like the microbiome and the immune system that have been historically underfunded and hold great promise."

"Additional research funding is welcome and warranted as the prevalence continues to rise and the argument that it's just 'better awareness' no longer passes muster,"
John Rodakis, Founder N of One: Autism Research Foundation, told Newsweek.

Cue the public officials telling us that the numbers AREN'T REALLY going up?
Autism prevalence is the only govt. statistic that the govt. tries tell us is not accurate. #autism
