February 2021 – IKEA signed an agreement with the Noida Authority to build an overhead pedestrian walkway between Sector 51 and Sector 52, with an estimated timeline of about six years.

2022 – The Noida Authority floated a tender for a foot-over bridge to connect Sector 51 Metro Station on the Aqua Line with Sector 52 Metro Station on the Blue Line. The project was proposed on a build-operate-transfer basis, but no bidders came forward.

Late 2022 – After the BOT model failed, the Noida Authority decided to fund and execute the skywalk on its own.

2023 – The construction contract for the skywalk was awarded to Iqbal Constructions Company with a deadline for completing the civil works by October 5, 2023.

End of 2023 – The first completion deadline was missed.

2024 – The revised deadline was missed again.

2025 – Another revised target date also slipped.

The design has been changed twice, and the cost has been revised three times because of those changes.
