Breaking (fake) news: Wanborough Station (average pax per service 2.43) renamed 'Guildshot' given Taylor Wimpey's plan to put up to 950 new builds in the adjacent fields, helping to close the inconvenient gap between Guildford and Aldershot on something called the 'Green Belt'...
This is "Active Travel Route 11", the Christmas Pie Trail, "suitable for cyclists", say Taylor Wimpey's consultants. As long as you don't need to put your foot down... No doubt the planners @GuildfordBC will have a more grounded😂appreciation! https://t.co/sAsBdJ8zSN
Very pleased to see the new road sign installed by Surrey Highways on Westwood Lane ahead of the dangerous bend at the entrance to our village - hang on: what's that other sign alongside it?😂558 objections so far; still time to add your voice!

So, that's all right then...
Thanks to the Guildford Dragon News for drawing attention to the threat we face of inappropriate development in Normandy: https://t.co/IOC7aSWHFM

Threat to UK food security acknowledged. To which building on agricultural land is not a rational response, we would suggest. Joined up government?

Video taken by a local resident showing just how absurd it would be to build on green fields that act as a natural flood restraining measure. Taylor Wimpey wants to put 950 new builds here: to find out more, please visit https://t.co/sAsBdJ8zSN

Our friend Mr Weasel is helping us understand some of the - ahem - weasel words around Taylor Wimpey's plans to put 950 new builds on Normandy's Green Belt. He's not impressed, and nor are we.

"There is something very concerning about the way the Government is seeking to justify its latest moves to weaken Green Belt protections."

It's an emphatic 'NO' to Taylor Wimpey in Normandy: 1 in favour; 18 undecided; 317 against. This is NOT an appropriate site for a large scale housing development.
Thanks, @ThatsSurrey, for highlighting this issue. The release of Green Belt land should be strategic, not opportunistic, and it shouldn't be driven by where a large developer just happens to have an interest. This proposal would destroy a precious habitat for no good reason.
"It is inappropriate and disproportionate"
Plans to build 950 homes on farmland outside the village of Normandy have been outlined.
That's TV heard from chair of the @NormandyAG Mike Aaronson who said the plans would have a "devastating impact" if approved.
Thanks, @surreylive for featuring this story.
"Filling [the field in] with buildings will fundamentally and irrevocably change the nature of our community and our environment." Several fields, actually: it's a 60 hectare site!

Good @guildforddragon letter on how developers can evade their commitments post planning approval. A plea to decision-makers: "When the planning balance rests on undeliverable claims, refusal is not a gamble — it is sound and responsible governance." https://t.co/UObIyHyPlj...
