I’m not arguing they can’t immigrate to countries with better academies. The problem isn’t there, it’s with them abandoning their heritage and representing a nation with no ethnic or family ties to.
The way it’s set up now, the countries with the best academies can recruit anyone in the world to come play for their country. That’s just club football with extra steps.
National soccer is meant to be proud representation of your nation, your families nation, your culture, your people. NOT representing a country just cause you were raised there or trained there. It should be a lot more than that.

Choosing Sweden over your father’s nation is disrespect. 🤦 The World Cup would be a lot more exciting if smaller nations had ethnic players whose families are from there representing them. That’s a fact. For example: Nigeria failed to qualify and there are 16 Nigerian players at the World Cup. That shouldn’t happen. Nigeria should be one of the favorites if national team football wasn’t like club football.
