I thought I was seeing more Yellow Wagtails than usual in Northants this year, so went to @BirdTrack to check. The reporting rate (and those for neighbouring counties) seems to bear this out. See https://t.co/htK1OhIqmZ @jcbirder @_Northants_BRC
Some folks have started their @BBS visits and, remarkably, 2 out of 6 have recorded Wheatears. Also you-know-who had a Cuckoo (smug!). Still just time to take on a vacant square if you're able to help out https://t.co/5reThVGNHI
Back from Africa, a Willow Warbler was singing in #Fineshade today - the earliest ever record for here and a full week earlier than last year. Also an early Blackcap. Loads of Chiffchaffs now of course.
Do you have a rookery on your @BBS_birds square? Easy to count the nests now. Around Kirby Hall there were 104 yesterday - but in 2016 there were 351 and it'd dropped gradually ever since.
The grant; we have up to £200 and the loan of 4 audiomoths. If you have a great idea for your back garden with one recorder that you don't need money for, that's great. Equally, we're happy to to have projects that need all £200 to cover transport, accommodation or other costs.
Great to watch a group of 60+ Sand Martins feeding in the Scaldwell Bay at Pitsford Res this evening with @BethClyne meanwhile 300 Golden Plover circled around in the distance due to a nearby Peregrine... #Northantsbirds
Our @BBS_birds volunteers are part of a wider network of 15,000 who count breeding birds across 28 European countries. The data collected feed into continent-wide annual and long-term indices of population size changes for 170 species.

New job @_BTO in my Information Systems team! We're looking for a database developer to join us to support the vital work we do to understand birds and the wider environment. Details at https://t.co/rI24HdpjE1. Bonus points if you can guess (very obscure) link between photo & job
In my 13 years leading @_BTO this is the most important Appeal for funding our future. Working with young people transforms us, improving accessibility and diversity, ensuring we continue to inform and inspire. Please give generously and consider joining us. Thank you
An amazing data set - over 4500 house martin nests surveyed in each of 2 yrs by #CitizenScience@_BTO showing better breeding succes for birds in previously used nests - older, earlier birds or energy saving on nest construction? #ornithology
A bit too old for this? But keen to encourage young people to engage with nature and science? By donating just £10, you could help build a community of younger naturalists: https://t.co/Q2ge2rt89m
