People (drinkers) often say they drink cos they’re bored. What they don’t perhaps realise, or have long forgotten, is that LIFE is boring unless you fill it with things you like doing. The catch is - if you drink all the time, you lose sight of what it is you DO like doing!!
Heartbreaking…#AlmasNotNormal is as raw, real and authentic as it is belly-laugh funny and brilliantly acted. Every performance is award-winning standard. It’s a classic series already. There’s nothing better on tv and hasn’t been for a long time.
@TheCarlWheatley@Rubywax Why isn’t there more of this on the tv NOW!!? 😬. I love the spontaneity; the natural building of the relationships - or not, in the case of the impenetrable Trump; the intuition - nothing formulaic here (were you watching Mr Theroux?) 100% authentic, honest, creative, brave ❤️
How does that message sit alongside the (utterly vacuous) drinks industry slogan: “Please Drink Responsibly”? The latest Gordon’s Gin advert operates on exactly the same principle: F*ck planning. Drink Now! #alcoholawareness#soberlife

@noellerecovers Oh yes! And I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that. I sometimes imagine I’m re-living the life I would have had if sober. Not regretfully. But … as if it’s my second chance 🙏
@theresaallan I think it’s possible that people who drink too much have always done so because socialising (plus many other things too) is stressful. So, when they stop drinking, they discover that nothing much has changed re the stress and socialising. Lockdown is a guilty pleasure!
@MaraFraser3 It’s the lack of lethargy that I found so wonderful. Even if I had a headache, in sobriety it was entirely different from that listless feeling a hangover gives when absolutely everything is too much effort. I still appreciate it after 7 years alcohol-free
@purtzer_thomas Thanks for your interest. Actually it’s the title of my book and it signifies how drinkers often describe their own relationship with alcohol: I’m not alcoholic, but... I drink every day. (Or whatever). I wanted to convey the defensiveness of drinkers and the self-denial
@purtzer_thomas I embraced sobriety with open arms 7 years ago (a mere novice by your standards!) but I know it’s the best thing I ever did in my life. Full of hope and joy now. What a change!!
@Gett_UK@Dave_Waiser Sure... where I’ll pick up details of your company solicitors for me to sue you for unlawful business practices. Unfit to practice in this country Mr W. It’s charlatans like you who have to be exposed and removed
@carmenitatwirl It doesn’t go away either, I’m glad to say. Even after 7 years, I regularly wake up in a state of excitement at the realisation that sobriety is coursing through my veins. I have to suppress giggling. It’s bonkers, I know!
