EVERYONE's recovery is different.
"Success" for one person, may not be that for another.
"Failure" for one person, may not be that for another.
This world is hard (and critical) enough as is without judgment from your own fellow travelers.
Live & let live. #recoveryposse
I recognize that faith and/or the 12-step approach works for many in #addiction recovery. And I certainly support them in this. But it doesn't work for many others. The problem arises when we go from "this worked for me" to "this is the only thing that will work for everyone."
Shout-out to ALL the #RecoveryPosse struggling with gambling addiction right now. ❤️🩹🙏
All the technological advances of the last 15 years are designed *specifically* to take advantage of problem gamblers. They are out here, sick and suffering like any alcoholic or addict.
Read this article. Some who worked at @DraftKings quit and warned that it is predatory.
Sports shows that promote them should really think twice. There are other ways to make money.

Day 26: Coming to terms with a disease called alcoholism and accepting the fact I cannot use drugs & alcohol successfully. I've failed every time. The devil prowls around every corner; all I can do is live one moment at a time.
There is a correlation between childhood sexual abuse and higher sex partner numbers. Part of that dynamic can come from not knowing how to say "no" or fearing what will happen if you do. In other words, don't judge promiscuity b/c it's often a red flag. #women#rape#sex
You’re exhausted, but you can’t sleep
• You’re starving, but you don’t eat
• You’re hurting, but you can’t cry
• You want help, but can’t ask
• You need connection, but isolate
Depression rewires everything.
It’s not laziness. It’s fucking survival.
I've been sober for 7 days. The physical withdrawal is over, but the mental cravings are ruthless. I sit in patience. All I can do is wait until this moment passes. A sharp pain has been clawing itself into my left shoulder blade since this morning - obviously a reason to drink. I look at the clock. 12:48 PM. 7 more hours until medication, then bed.
My depression is heavy and overbearing. My schizo disorder is flaring up - that evil voice in the left corner of my ear has been degrading me for days. I need to talk with the doctor about this. It's hard to find the motivation to write.
"Just keep writing... it will pass the time," I tell myself.
I wasn't ready for the fall from grace when I hit my rock bottom. The only place from here is locked up or dead. I don't want to kill myself. But I wouldn't be upset if God called me home early. that's depression. As real as the sharp pain in my shoulder blade.
I won't drink today.
You can't feel close to someone who repeatedly made you feel emotionally alone or unsafe. You can't manufacture warmth from relationships that taught you to shrink, be quiet, or expect disappointment.
What you wanted was simple:
To be loved w/o feeling like you had to earn it.
