@DiMartinoWX@Oayx_ From sea to shining sea; purple mountain majesty!
I may not have seen a tornado; but the experience I had with y’all makes it so worth it
People joking about it being the National Weather Service are completely missing how this is actually an extremely destructive parasite that was supposed to be eradicated after decades of livestock devastation..
😬 This is *bad*
A case of NWS may have been detected in South Texas. The sample is now at USDA's National Veterinary Services Laboratories (NVSL) in Ames, lowa for confirmatory testing. We will provide updates the moment results are available.
We have already activated personnel on the ground and are working with local partners.
What you can expect from us is transparency, candor, and most important — action.

@tylerkwx03 New World Screwworm. Nasty little flesh eating fly. They can infect humans, but mainly livestock and wild animals; they burrow into open wounds and eat animals from inside out. They’re fast, and were previously eradicated before DOGE cut the program to prevent them from spreading
The lack of morning weather balloons launched across the western and central U.S. is having a real, tangible impact on degrading forecast quality.
We can't look at weather balloon data that doesn't exist. We can't pump nonexistent data into models. We can't rely as heavily on models that don't "know" what's happening above our heads.
Today's severe weather forecast is less certain because we don't have weather balloon data to confirm the strength of jet stream winds aloft.
This is extremely frustrating, and is the result of logistical, organizational, political and budgetary decisions.
Who else up missing their people on this warm spring day
Nothing bad is happening; I just miss and love so many of yall. Without fail I always choose “chasing and weather” as the best choice I ever made.
@nvolpewild Unsure the species; but this bug was found on top of Pikes Peak (Colorado). I noticed it flying around when it proceeded to land on SNOWPACK!!
At 14k feet from sea level!
