@aedanusburke I havent read this book specifically, but James McPherson’s Battle Cry Of Freedom and Lacy Ford’s Deliver Us From Evil have been my go-to’s for understanding the Civil War. To place sole blame for the war on radical abolitionists seems incredibly short sighted.
@Paul_Bowers I dont think this is Lost Cause-ism. Everything he said in the post is *objectively* true. Hampton was a great outdoorsman, and his election did signal the end of Reconstruction.
Evidence against the current interpretation of birthright citizenship (being challenged by the Trump admin before SCOTUS):
If anyone who is born on US soil is automatically a citizen, then why did Congress need to enact a statute granting citizenship to Native Americans?
@aedanusburke Ive always viewed their relationship as more antagonistic, particularly by the time Tillman comes to power in 1890. I wonder how each man would view the other’s statue at the State House, especially with how close in proximity they are.
Every right wing Antebellum/Confederate LARP account on here is just “The Southern man is superior to his Northern counterpart in every possible way…and in no man is this superiority better displayed than William Quantrill”
@JackFritzWIP We must immediately sign Kevin Long to a multi-year contract extension. As the best hitting coach in baseball, we need him now more than ever!
@joelirvine97@JohnStolnis Casey is a DH and any trade for Luis Arraez would likely start and end with Gage Wood who is untouchable. I would also not trade Aidan Miller for Arraez.

@joelirvine97@JohnStolnis The Padres farm system was 50000 times better than ours is lol. We have 2 top 100 prospects and one hasnt played baseball this year. We dont have the assets to make a big trade.
@aedanusburke There may have been some truth to D.H. Chamberlain’s 1871 statement that “Incompetency, dis-honesty, corruption in all its forms now rule the party which rules the state”
@aedanusburke It would be pretty shocking if after redistricting failed, his endorsed candidate also loses. Evette does not have the clout he thinks she does.
@nmewrath@electionsjoe Because McMaster made a deal with Trump that he would call the special session in exchange for an endorsement for Evette. She knew it was coming. I know Alan Wilson is ripping his hair out.
