Non-Dev web3 enthusiast working on a big idea and interested in projects outside of gaming, defi and NFTs. @georgetown, @cornell, @jpmorgan, @creditsuisse
@owocki Agreed. Seems necessary to evolve from gaming, defi, and NFT which are insular and circular communities to get more universal traction. Do these breakout ideas exist? I have one, but I'm not a dev so I'm stuck.
@RyanSAdams@pmarca@bankless@cdixon When will we see the first significant Web3 company outside of nfts, defi and gaming? And is that what it will take for Web3 to mainstream?
@santiagoroel We don't know yet if a non-sovereign store of value is wasteful or not - the market will decide and is certainly still TBD. And we certainly don't know yet whether its impact on geopolitics will be a net negative or a net positive.
@SamiBaddar I would say biggest challenge is getting people to try it. Can you sign in anonymously and convert $ later? If so I would broadcast that loudly. Good luck. Great concept!
@CamiRusso I have agreed twice that it impacts inflation. Saying it has caused the inflation we are seeing now is an oversimplification and wrong. And no they literally don't print money.
@CamiRusso Oversimplification and just not accurate. Fed policy has a role in this inflation for sure, but they don't "print money" and fed policy is responsible for a lot of other negative things like income inequality and too much debt, but inflation is being caused by so much more.
@santiagoroel Yes and humans are coordination machines. Ironically so many of the most meaningful examples of coordination are centralized institutions. yes balance. reform not replace in most cases.
@shooley@santiagoroel It's a paradox for sure. I'm down with web3. Not so sure about eliminating the whole financial system and Ukraine is an example of why we shouldn't. Programmable money may enable a solution that strikes the right balance. Don't think adopting BTC does tho.
@RyanSAdams Fully decentralized = accountable to nobody. Beautiful, but also an achilles heel in light of current events and may create an enormous hurdle to execute through regulators.
